Welcome to the “North Okanagan Optimist Club” (NOOC) Chartered in 2011. Optimist Clubs all over North America are dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids”, and play an active role within their community to raise funds to support different children’s projects, and or to provide assistance. NOOC has been very successful over the past 5 years in doing just that!
Each Optimist Club is operated by local members from within their geographical area, and have the flexibility to choose the projects they feel will benefit the youth the most.
Established and Chartered in September 2011 the NOOC is an active part of the North West Pacific Optimist Regional District of Optimist International, a leading network of service clubs all over the world.
Celebrating our 5th year as a “Charter Optimist Club" we are proud of our success as a contributing club to helping "Bring Out The Best In Kids"! With our passionate volunteer team (our members), the NOOC has raised funds through such annual events as “Unplug & PLaY” and other fun events.
We sponsor events like:"Children’s Christmas Workshop""Unplug & PLaY""Heritage Fair Vernon"
and much more. The Optimist Club members operate under "The Optimist Creed", which was written when the first Optimist Club was formed back in 1919. It was written to motivate kids, youth and adults alike to always try to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude to the events happening around you.
Saying "The Optimist Creed" at our meetings instills a reminder of the importance to set a good example of our behavior in your local community. By passing "The Optimist Creed" down to the children it can play a big role in their personal improvement as they partake to better their community and the world around them.
The Optimist Creed:
Promise Yourself ...
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
By providing support, hope and positive vision, Optimists members help "Bring Out The Best In Kids". Optimist Vision of Optimist International will be recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential.
