The North Okanagan Optimist Club is excited to receive a donation from the Shell Community Service Fund for the Unplug & Play Week!
June Kerr, Optimist Club charter member and Shell retiree, presents the cheque from the Shell Community Service Fund to Phyllis Dyck, North Okanagan Optimist Chair for the 2013 Unplug & Play Week during the April monthly meeting at the Vernon Pantry Restaurant.
The funds are earmarked for the banners and site signage to advertise the Unplug & Play locations. Signs will be ‘green’ and used each year that an Unplug & Play Week is planned. Shell contributes to non profits where their retiree’s volunteer in excess of 45 hours a year to a maximum of $1,000 per non profit per year. Not only do the funds support the program delivery by the non profit but it also keeps their retirees active and involved in their communities.
