Remembrance Day 2017

NOOC was proud to represent a wreath in the 2017 Remembrance Day 2017 Ceremonies in both Vernon and Coldstream.

Such a powerful perspective on the life we live from a song by World War II veteran Amie Hannenberg, Kitchener, Ontario (died 1998) and used by permission in the 2017 Remembrance Day Service in Coldstream, BC. Music by Peter Davison.

You Bought Me Time

You gave your lives in World War II,

and even though I fought with you

I li--ved...was it my due?

You bought me time.

Time to see my fam'ly grow,

see my grandkinds' faces glow...

things that you will never know -

You bought me time.

Time to work and time to play,

watch a sunset after day,

watch my garden grow in May,

You bought me time.

Stanley Cups and Super bowls:

worked my job, achieved my goals,

wore many hats, played many roles.

You bought me time.

Fifty years and even more

I've lived since that so costly war -

No aircraft whine, no cannon roar.

You bought me time.

And now I'm more than seventy,

I've had a life so full and free.

I thank you all eternally -

You bought me time.

Amie Hannenberg
