North Okanagan Optimist Club held a club level essay contest that was advertised in the secondary high schools from Vernon to Salmon Arm on the topic “Optimism Should Be A Priority.” We are proud to celebrate these accomplished writers with a club presentation of cash prizes to the top three finalists: 1st $500 Alexa Tymkiw (Kalamalka Secondary), 2nd $300 Celine Edwards (Vernon Christian School), 3rd $200 Emily McDougall (Seaton Secondary). All three finalists wrote very compelling discussions on the value of optimism as an essential personal asset. Alexa’s winning essay has been entered by our club into the District Optimist International Essay Contest where the grand prize is a $2500 college scholarship. We wish her all the best at this next level that could include entries from Optimist Clubs in Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon and Washington State.
Please be advised that all our finalists can attend on Mar 16th, 2015.
