Message From Our President

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the online home of the North Okanagan Optimist Club. The Club
was chartered in 2011 and we are proud to be celebrating our fifth year of making a difference in our community.

The North Okanagan Club is a club that follows the Optimist Internationa motto of “Bringing Out the Best in Kids”.NOOC has brought Unplug and PLaY to Vernon and district – a week long celebration of encouraging kids of all ages to move away from the TV, computer, games and try new activities that encourage play and exercise. Activities are no cost or low cost so that any child is able to participate. These Unplug and PLaY events have been extremely popular with hundreds of activities and thousands of children participating over the past four years.

In 2016 our Club took on the sponsorship of the Heritage Fair and Stamp Contest for students in our school district when the Museum decided to drop the events. Last year over 200 children participated and we look forward to an equally successful event in 2017.

Last year saw the installation of Playground Boxes installed in two parks in Vernon, providing children with sports equipment to encourage outside play and activity.

We participate in community events such as the Sunshine Festival and the Kids Gift Exchange.

Please browse our site to learn more about our programs and events. Your support is very much appreciated. We always welcome new members to continue our dedication to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" in our community.

Our Club meets the third Monday of each month at 7PM at Tom’s Place on 32nd Street (HWY 97) in Vernon. Please check us out.

Yours in Optimism

Lesley Hayes

President 2016-17
